The Movement
We are all running on different programming.
Every one of us walks into a conversation carrying our own invisible programming, shaped by culture, upbringing, language, and a lifetime of experience nobody else has lived. Most of the time, we don’t even know it’s there. We just assume the person across from us is reading the world the way we do.
They’re not. And that quiet mismatch, that gap between my programming and yours, is getting in the way of the relationships we need and deserve. At work. In our communities. Across our differences. Even in the same room, even with people we love.
InterCulturaling is a movement to change that. An international movement built on a simple, radical idea: that if we could see the invisible rules each of us is following, we could finally understand each other, and build the connection we’ve been missing all along.
I have spent thirty years doing this work, on the radio and in the boardroom, in universities and government offices, across corporations and classrooms, in English and in Spanish, on both sides of borders. Everywhere I have gone, the same truth held: people are not failing to connect because they don’t care. They are failing to connect because no one ever showed them the invisible rules getting in the way.
That’s why the movement doesn’t wait for people to come to it. It shows up, in community spaces, in everyday places, wherever people gather.
The InterCulturaling Circle pop–up
The Circle is where the movement begins.
A grassroots gathering held in the everyday places where community already lives. Part reading, part conversation, part community, each Circle turns an ordinary space into a place where people are truly seen. We read, we talk, and everyone in the room is invited to share what they know that others don’t.
No stage. No lecture. Just people, in their own spaces, discovering how much we are each fluent in.
I offer the Circle as my gift to the community, an open doorway into the movement. It’s where the conversation starts. And for those ready to go further, it’s where a deeper journey begins.
Where should the Circle pop up next?
The movement grows because people invite it in. A church. A community kitchen. A campus. A living room. A chamber of commerce. Anywhere people come together.
